Dear 10th Mountain Members:

Together with Lonesome Pine Trails, we are hosting the 2010 High School Class C State Ski Meet!  This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our trails and our hospitality.  The meet officially begins on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 9:00 AM with Alpine giant slalom competition at LPT.  That afternoon at 3:00 PM the girls’ Nordic 5K freestyle race will begin in the stadium and the boys’ race will begin at 4:00 PM.

That evening at Community High School, the Green Bean Ski Club will host a Spaghetti Dinner for the state ski teams and for the general public.  The cost is $10 per person and tickets will be available at the LPT and 10th Mtn lodges Sunday through Tuesday.

On Wednesday, February 17, the Alpine competition continues with the girls and boys slalom races at LPT beginning at 9:00 AM.  The Alpine awards will be presented at 2:30 PM at LPT.  There will not be any Nordic competitions on this day.  However, all teams will be practicing on the course, but the trails will be open to the public.

On Thursday, February 18, the Nordic competitions continue with the 5K classic races beginning at 9:00 AM for the girls and 10:00 AM for the boys.  Following the races at ~11:30 AM the Nordic awards will be presented and then the overall team and Skimeister awards.  The entire event will conclude by 12:30 PM.  The trails will be open for public skiing at this time.

In order to prepare the ski trails for the races, it will be necessary to close the following trails:  Voyageur, Waska, CanAm Loop, Volunteer Way and Grand Outlook during the dates and times below:

            Tuesday, February 16, 6:00 AM - 5:30 PM

         Thursday, February 18, 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

The snowshoe trails intersecting the race course will also be closed during these dates and times as well.  Informational signs will be posted at our kiosks at the Wax Building and Red Barn trailheads.

This is a great opportunity for our younger skiers to see what they have to look forward to in high school.  We hope you will come up during one of the events and cheer on our high school team.
