  • Nordic walking combines the upper-body motion of cross-country skiing with the benefits of walking.

  • Nordic walking burns more calories!
  • Walking with poles takes some of the strain off knees.
  • It is a great workout for all ages and fitness levels.

When: Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30pm

Low-Impact Exercise Group

  • Who:     Adults of varying ages & abilities

  • When:   Thursdays 6:00 p.m. except where noted

  • Where:   Meet at 10th Mountain Lodge Except Where Noted

  • What:     Various forms of low-impact exercise 1-2 hours

  • Why:      Improve or maintain fitness and socialization and discover some of the exercise options right in your backyard!

This is intended to be a “no drop” supportive group. “No drop” means the group will stick together at a low to moderate pace. This is aimed at beginners and those wanting a low level workout with a bit of variety.

You Bring: Running shoes, Water bottle, Workout clothing, Mountain Bike (some sessions)

July 10 - 10th Mountain Guided Trail Walk/Jog & Tour of the buildings and grounds for newcomers

July 17th - Full Moon Madness Tour of the Town Bike and Hike

  • Meet at Lonesome Pine Trails. We’ll bike a circuit, then hike to the top of the hill.

July  24th- Sherry’s on vacation. Come walk the trails and observe the Jalbert Youth Biathlon program in action. They might even let you play!

July 31st - Mountain Bike/Hike to Fish River Falls

  • Remember Sneakers/Sturdy Shoes

August 7th - Walk/Jog, Ski Walking with Poles, Strength, Stretching

  • Bring trekking poles or short (to the armpit) ski poles if you have them.

August 14th- Yoga

  • Roller blade (bring your own) or roller ski (bring a bike helmet)
  • Walking is always an option!

Tuesday evenings 5:30pm – 6:30pm– Beginner Group - for younger athletes who are still developing their skills for recreational skiing Thursday evenings 5:30pm – 6:30pm Advanced Group – for older athletes who want to perfect their skills and prepare for future competition

Activities include

Roller skiing

Games

General physical fitness

40km Voyageur Loppet /22km Waska Korteloppet / 44km fun relay

The 4th annual  40km Voyageur will be held on January 13th at 12pm. There will also be a 22km Waska Korteloppet and a 4 x 11km relay Loppet.  This is a change in the distance for the Waska and fun relay from what is listed on the poster.  The extra distance is all flat!!
